Examinations and boards you can register for as a private candidate

Redstone Academy is a registered examination centre with some of the major examination boards and we offer a full range of examination services for GCSE, IGCSE and GCE AS and A2 (Advanced) qualifications. You can register for AQA and Edexcel.

Our teaching facilities include comfortable classrooms with audio/video technology, IT suite, Science lab, indoor multi-purpose hall and a large outdoor play area.

The premises are well maintained and along with our library and playground, they make the school a pleasant and easy place to study.

Students can have their lunch together in our school canteen where they can buy hot meals/sandwiches and snacks during the break and lunch periods.

Examination schedules

We offer facilities for private candidates (independent or external candidates and for candidates educated otherwise than at school) for November, January (winter) and May / June examinations. You can register with us to take an examination for the first time or for resits.

Private candidates who wish to enter for the coursework option must be registered as a student at Redstone Academy. The coursework must be done with adequate supervision to verify the authenticity of the candidate’s work and to preserve the integrity of the examination system.

Modern Languages

Oral examinations in modern languages are offered at the college at the following levels and in the following subjects: GCSE, AS and A2 in Arabic.

One-to-one tuition

How the process works:

Application Form

The first step in the process is to complete an application form. We will need to know what qualifications you want to take including the Exam Board, Spec Code, Tier or Option in addition to your personal details.

Timetable

Timetables and joining instructions are issued as soon as invoices are cleared and as soon as the exam board ‘basedata’ is released. This could be a few weeks after payment has been received, so don’t worry.

Exams

The exams will take place in the season you have entered for. They will be clearly listed on your timetable. All ‘clashes’ will be resolved for you at the centre.

Information

At the end of the exam season, you will be issued results information giving you information about how and when you will receive results.

Results Issued

Results are issued on the Awarding Bodies published dates and the dates issued to you by us. All results are electronic unless a prior agreement has been made.

Certificates Issued

You will be notified when certificates have arrived at the centre and have been checked. We send certificates by Special Delivery (additional fee applies), 1st Class Royal Mail or you can come and collect by prior appointment. Certificates can take several weeks to arrive!
